Save your money till you know your system is no longer able to cope with the new games.
I know you don't want to hear that but it seems your pc is generally able to do most stuff ok so why spend on upgrades when it's not really necessary.
Treat yourself to a new mouse mat if it makes you feel better.
Then buy the new Ipod nano instead.
Maybe it has something to do with people wanting to get paid for their work?
All you say is true, but then every now and then a significant step up in terms of physics and graphics engine comes along, once people get fed up with the reworked bells 'n' whistles approach, which takes the technology onto a new plateau for another 5 years. That's what we're all waiting for.
Basically your only constructive comment is that the crash physics (where the cars go spinning off on their end or disappear skywards) needs to be made more realistic.
Well there's no-one here who would argue that. The rest of your post is heresay and your interpretation of the some of the more negative forum posters, without adding any real specific examples.

Samorost 1 and 2 waiting for your tired, confused mind.
and even more bizarre, this slot racing game where the engine revs are controlled by the pitch of your voice, very hard to race well while you are wetting yourself with laughter.
OMG! The depth of feeling about something I find utterly trivial, I really don't care a jot what the driver model in other players cars look like, it's amazing how much people can get wound up about this sort of thing.
